Notes – 14 February 2022

We continue to sing socially distanced and for, some of the rehearsal, with masks on. We ask that everyone takes a lateral flow test before the rehearsal.

After warm up activities, we looked at the following pieces:

  1. Jubilate
  • Paul took the first 25 mins. of practice. We revised and practised the notes, rhythms, and how parts fit together from beginning to Bar 69
  1. Like a Rainbow
  • Shape each phrase musically – gentle crescendo in and decrescendo out
  • Bar 71 for men – note missing part of word on the minim – ‘member’
  • Bar 78 – change to dotted crochet and quaver rest before ‘we are shining’
  • Bar 78 altos – dotted crochet on ‘we’
  • Bar 81 to 84 – note diminuendo
  • Bar 85 – note rit
  • Bar 86 – beginning of CODA
  1. All will be well (Will Todd)
  • Bar 51 onwards – be careful about intonation. For each ‘all will be well’ phrase, sing up at start, pitch up, dim to next phrase and then repeat with an overall diminuendo
  • Bar 52 – mp in all parts
  • Bar 60 – note new chord
  1. A Song for you
  • Mary is looking for a soloist or small group to sing opening section and final 4 bars. Any volunteers?
  • Bar 28 and again in Bar 77 – be sure to observe the minim rest
  • Bar 85 – observe the pause
